Louis D’Or, a French-style alpine cheese has been making headlines as one of Canada’s most famous Quebec cheeses since 2010 taking home top honours over many years at The Canadian Cheese Grand Prix, The American Cheese Society Competition, The Canadian Cheese Awards, The Royal Winter Fair, and Selection Caseus. Most recent Louis d’Or, was named the 2018 Cheese of the Year in the Canadian Cheese Awards, the biggest cheese judging and competition in the country.

Made by Jean Morin of Fromagerie du Presbytère in Sainte-Élizabeth-de-Warwick, Québec,  Louis d’Or gets its raw organic milk from the dairy’s own Holstein and Jersey cows. 4th generation family run Fromagerie du Presbytère, in Québec’s central region, is named for the small, restored 1930’s rectory that houses the cheese factory in the tiny village of Sainte-Elizabeth-de-Warwick, including a new expansion, which converted the historic church next door into ripening rooms while preserving it’s integrity and purpose.

An outstanding Alpine-style cheese with a slight crumble and scattered small crystals. Deep aromas of nuts and fruit characterize the velvety, buttery-textured paste, and complex flavours of nut, toffee, and fruit can all be found in the cheese. Unknown ObjectEnhance the complex flavours of Louis d’Or with lightly oaked chardonnay or a big or fruity red wine, such as a Beaujolais or Burgundy or a lighter Côtes du Rhône.

A perfect cheese for a cheese board, serve with crusty bread, apples, nuts, light salamis, pear preserves and olives. Has an excellent melting quality making it well suited to fondue, raclette, cheese sauces, gratin dishes and grilled sandwiches.
